Advice needed re refund

Hi all, I won two items on email, paid for them, waited patiently. Never arrived. I gave them a week after the due date as we all know that sometimes the post can be a bit slow. Still nothing. Contacted the seller and said "not arrived". They in turn have sent me a photo of their proof of purchase with the following "I can confirm that it was sent on 9th June, building no. XXXXX. If it does not arrive by Monday, please let me know and I will send you the proof of posting so you can reclaim your loss.". Now I was under the impression that the seller should chase RM for non delivery and I just get a refund. Advice anyone?
The game's afoot....

Yes - up to the seller to ensure you receive the goods. Message back and explain that under ebay rules, it is their responsibility to claim compensation and that you will be entitled to a refund on the grounds of an INR (whatever their listing might have purported to say about non-arrival).

Or just open an INR if seller is being silly, as long as they refund you before you are able to escalate it doesn't count against the seller at all.

Agree with Soolin. You shouldn't have to explain to them how Ebay works. You have tried to resolve the problem casually. Just open a case as they obviously have no idea or more likely trying to put you off getting your refund.

Just an update. I had a full refund within 24 hours of opening a case. Methinks this was a try on to get out of a refund...... thanks for your advice all!
