Ebay - buyer wants refund

Hi
Not sure what to do -
I sold a monile phone last week and the seller has now recieved it.He's emailed me to say the phone is playing up,he said the signal is dodgy and the battery keeps running out.Before I sent this phone I was using it with no problems and I had also took it to a shop to see how much they would buy it for.The shop checked it fully and offered me a low amount. So i decided to sell it on Ebay. Now he wants a refund but I'm really not happy about giving him one? Shall I just give him one to 'keep the peace' or argue the point.Not sure what he could do if I refused?

Hi,
There are others on here that know a lot more about ebay and will be here soon.
But did you take a note of the phones serial numbers?
Did you offer refunds?

Yes thats a good point nicky brought up re the serial numbers, you could have marked the battery with a UV pen to make sure you get the right phone back

im afraid if it goes to paypal they will refund them ,they 99% of the time give refunds to buyers ,sellers are the underdog ,i have had money refunded countless times by pay pal for thing i KNOW people are lying about ,but call his bluff see if it works ,sometimes it does ,good luck
