Damaged Alloy Wheels - What are my rights?

Options
Hi,

I had my alloy wheels (5) refurbished 18 months ago, in a custom colour. i was really happy with the job, it cost me £350 all in.

Last week, i had two tyres replaced on the rims by a national chain. The fitter has badly damaged one of the rims due to not mounting the rim properly in the machine - Head Office have confirmed this via email. I am currently driving round without a usable spare.

However, the local wheel refurb companies are saying that they wont be able to match the custom finish on the damaged wheel as the paint is a custom colour - they want £280 to refurb all 5 wheels

Ive told the Tyre company that i require all 5 wheels painting in order to get a colour match - they are refusing, and are telling me to "use the mismatching wheel as a spare"

Can anyone tell me what my rights are? All im asking for is my wheels to be put back to the same condition as they were before they damaged them, but they are refusing.

If i was to push this via the legal channels would i win? Would it be worth it?

I can't see the tyre company's solution is unreasonable, use the slightly mismatched coloured wheel as a spare. The wheel refurb company may in fact be trying to drum up extra business. Having all 5 wheels refurbed is betterment.

Yes - i was advised that there is technology like that available, but the 2 local companies dont have it.

I have asked the Tyre Company to recommend a place and for them to also handle the repair - but they are unwilling to do so.

At the end of the day, if the Tyre Company can guarantee the exact match of one wheel to the other four then im happy for them to do the repair.

It would seem however, that the want me to take all of the risk.

So, i can only act on advise from the two local refub places who have said that it will be nigh on impossible to get a perfect match.
