Proof of Education

As it's been such a long time since I've had to think of applying for a job, how do I prove my education? I have A-Levels and a I took a legal secretary course and paralegal course years ago, but have no idea where any of the paperwork is.

Would you have kept such paperwork with birth/marriage certificates etc?
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Did you have the certificates at some point in the past? Would you have thrown them out? If not, then you'll still have them somewhere so start searching!

You might be able to get replacements but you'll need to know one or both of where you studied (school/college) and who award the certificate (exam board / award body), and hope that they still exist. And it'll almost certainly cost you some money to have the replacements provided.

Not helpful to the OP but I've never been asked to provide proof of any GCSE/ A level qualification for any job.

Nope, plus one. I have only ever been asked for qualifications once (and mine are at a very high/specialist level, so you might think employers would want to verify them!)
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).

Has anyone actually asked you for the paperwork ? If they do, explain that it was lost, and you are happy to demonstrate your skills with a suitable test.

As others have said, most places are ot going to ask for the certificates or other proof - the only stuff I've ever had to provide is regarding my professional status, and even then, I didn't need certificates, just my registration number so they could verify I am really authorised by my professional body!

A few bigger organisations may require proof that you have GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) but in most cases employers are going to be looking for details of your skills and experience.

With regard to the 'Paralegal Course' if this led to you becoming a member of a professional body then your details will be on their membership registers,if not, then employers are likely to be more interested in your experience than a course done years ago.

Another who has never been asked to prove the qualifications I've put on a CV (all true), and I've now just past retirement so that's a long time of not being asked.

My GCSEs, further education qualifications and degree certificates are in my Record of Achievements and no potential employer or job agency has ever asked for them, despite us being told they need them every interview.

Only shown mine once when starting uni as an undergrad >20 years ago. Despite subsequent jobs being dependent on my 1st degree I've never shown the certificate to anyone.

Can I ask what sort of profession you are thinking of applying for?

    It will make a difference.
