ebay Buy-It-Now watchers

I've listed some of my clothes as Buy-It-Now on eBay.

I'm getting a few "watchers" but no buyers so far. If I re-list then I get the same number of watchers pretty much immediately.

I'm trying to figure out why my clothes aren't selling and who these watchers are and why they watch. Could they simply be other sellers?

BTW, my clothes are lovely, photos are good, ditto descriptions, positive feedback history.....

When I search completed listings for prices, buyers have always paid more at auction than I listed my items at. I've experimented with adding "or Best Offer" but it makes no difference.

Any ideas welcome...

It could be a billion reasons. It could be as little as a mistake you have missed. Or a terms and conditions that puts people off. You really need someone else to look at your listing to see if there is something that would put people off. Sometimes though you just have to wait for that sale.

Sometimes I've watched items simply to see how well they sold to give me an idea of whether it would be worth listing something similar I have myself at some future point.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

TBH, I really wouldn't pay any attention to the number of watchers on an item. It can be very misleading, as a seller!

One item I had once I had 31 watchers and just got 1 bid! I just couldn't believe it and the person got a bargain. I just thought there would be more buyers. Now I rarely start too low in the hope of numerous bidders!

Many just watch anything. I have loads on my watchlist. I have no intention of buying the item. Im am sure many other people do that on their watch list as well.

Make sure you add actual measurements of your clothes. The armpit to armpit measurement is crucial for women's tops blouses jackets, for example. There seeems to be no standardised measurement even within the same shop. M&S sizes vary a lot so a size 16 in one top is not the same as another top on the adjacent rail. This is the most important issue for me when buying online.

Take clear pix with a camera not a phone as sometimes phone pix are not clear.

Price according to what you believe it will sell for and not for what you would like it to sell for. Just because you paid a lot doesn't mean an Ebay buyer will want to recompense you especially if it's been worn.

Don't overcharge on postage. Buyers know what it costs to stuff a top into a bin liner and sellotape it up and post it.

Wash and iron the clothes and say in the listings that you have done so.

Do not model the clothes or shoes.

I've got a feeling the watchers are "carried over" when you relist a BIN.

Also if an item is relisted you get the old "an item you were watching" email

I'm not certain but I believe that every time you "relist" a "one off" BIN item, eBay demotes you in search.

I always use "Sell similar" because I believe that search sees the listing as a new listing.

    Who really knows with Cassini..?

Sometimes I watch an item I might buy. I would recommend putting them on for auction though, I think the excitement and competitiveness of it makes people more likely to buy.

I watch for all kinds of reasons - I might be interested in bidding - in which case I might watch several at once, I might have one I'm thinking of selling and want to get an idea of the possible selling price, I might have one and want to get an idea of value, or it might be something I buy from time to time so watch so I know where I can get it.

OK, instead of relisting I'm gonna try "sell similar" and then compare how I do.

Many people I think watch an item hoping the price will come down.
I'm sure I don't regularly go in and unwatch items. I'm not sure what's the benefit of listing sell similar here. You'll lose your watchers who may buy
It usually to do with price or poor photos for me. If I put a really good photo I often get man more sales than a mediocre one.
