Help pond

When you say 'cloudy' do you mean 'green'? The UV will help with that. But did you also clean the filter - rinse out the sponges? Do you have a good flow from it, you may need to check the pump as well to make sure the pond water is circulating as well as it can.
The other option to consider - is adding barley water solution.
Finally, how long ago was the pond cleaned? Too much muck on the bottom will affect the water quality.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
WATER ISNT GREEN just cloudy. Cleaned out every week. New pump a year ago. Fast flowing water fall.
Does barley straw work?
Could the hot weather be to blame?0 -
take a sample of water in a jar and look closely at it ....it may be a bloom of plankton Daphnia etc. Do you have fish in the pond? Could also be brown algae. Why does it need cleaned every week?0

My pond is absolutely swarming with daphnia at the moment. If this is what is making your water brown, you should be easily able to see them with the naked eye. Under my microscope they look amazing. They are harmless and provide food for other creatures up the food chain.0

Just noticed the comment about - 'cleaned out every week' - why?
No wonder the water is cloudy, if that is happening - let it settle, and give a chance for the good bacteria to take hold and work their magic.
Barley straw is a good if you have blanket weed, or green water.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
How often should you clean out the pond and filters0
-
Can vary depending how many fish, how often they're fed, open to leaves from trees and bushes going in.
Moved in 2007 over a few years fish multiplied, in 2012 had landscaping done - which included the pond, cascade added, probably too much weed taken out. Last year, had the same people back, who took all the water out (and the fish), power-washed, muck on the garden, fish and refill. Several months later horrendous bout of green water.
This year's Spring - again green water, had someone else in - used a water version of a vacuum cleaner. Now no green, but still a bit murky - can't see the bottom, but probably about 18-24" down.
Filter - something like two to three months, depending on the water flow, if it's gone down, could be the filter sponges are clogged up.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
Have you ever used Aquaplankton in the pond?0
-
It depends a lot on the filter/pump.
My old 19,000 litre fish pond had a biofilter and external pump; I had about 60 fish, and I never had to clean the filter - not once.
My father's all-in-one hozelock thing in a much smaller pond clogged up at least once a week.0 -
I have a biotec 10 filter box and a good external pump0
