JackieO. Ah. Savlon. I always had a tube of it in my desk. The children called it "magic cream".
It healed bumps, cuts, bruises and hurt feelings.

    Magic indeed.

Teachers aren't allowed to use it these days, I believe. It's called progress.

    Morning all,

Reminder to self..... get more bars of soap. The fragrance has gone out of the ones strategically placed under our bed sheets and last night hubby started walking round the bed again.

Still 79p for 4 bars of soap is lasting 2 weeks. I think he can afford that and its better than taking painkillers.
In other news, Yesterday I scraped a large piece skin off the knuckle of my middle finger. The flap of skin is still there but I've got dirt under it, it's seeping liquid, it's swollen and it hurts.

Ouch! and double ouch! I'd give it a soak in warm salty water and blast it with the hairdryer to dry it out but ouch!

I'm a fan of Germoline myself.

Hugs for you Nelski. You deserve one for your patience.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

    Afternoon.

DM cancelled her shoe buying plans as she wasn't too well. I went out for the new TV. Had to ask one of the lingering workmen to help me carry it up the stairs, well he carried it and I trailed behind! Then I had to ask an upstairs neighbour to help put the blooming stand together. He was also happy to lift it up and put it on the small wardrobe.

It's the room layout which is the problem in the room but I'm stuck with it and thus new set is now viewable. DM insisted on watching the news on it to 'test it out'. :rotfl:

    Now I'm resting!

Very little sleep last night and early start to attend a funeral, lovely man, great turn-out and a good send-off. Just managed a cuppa and a bowl of cornflakes before dashing off for a deep tissue massage to try and easy my joints and stretch my muscles, I think it will probably by rather ouchy, but usually beneficial.

I read that after a little while to take a very sharp knife and scrape a thin layer off the surface of the soap, sorry cannot remember the reasoning, but worth a try. I must try it again ATM my bar is hiding somewhere in the bedclothes:(, need to search it out and perhaps add another one.

    Hello all.
DH took me to an outlet shopping centre this morning and I spent a whole pound ! I bought a glasses case for my prescription sunglasses as the one from the opticians were huge, you could get 3 pairs in there !
On the way home DH suprised me by taking me to a pub restaurant, so now I'm stuffed with lasagne and garlic bread followed by eton mess. There goes the diet, again :rotfl:. On the plus side we won't be having any more food today.
Thanks to all those with tales of their dysfunctional families, it helps to know you are not the only one.
Hollyharvey I don't think my dad is actually taking me for granted as such but he has a strange attitude to everything. He always thinks he's right about everything and even when you prove him wrong, he just shrugs and says "Well I don't get it ". I was brought up to respect my elders but unfortunately it seems it doesn't have to work the other way round :(.
Nelski - try not to let it get to you, it's not easy, I know, but take heart that you have great support on here.
Karcher ouch, that sounds very painful, hope it heals soon. I agree with soaking it in salted water.
Judi I remember the pink Germoline in a round tin, I hated the smell then and still do !
Hugs to all those who need or want one, or two or more.
Enjoy the rest of the day.

Monna when we were told we were no longer allowed to use savlon cream when a child had fallen over and hurt themselves, we always kept some magic dust in our pockets ;). It only worked on the little ones though :rotfl:.

Thank all of you wonderful, wise ones :A who imparted your sound advice for mending my wounded finger.

I visited the Pharmacy and she did not think it was infected. She advised that I cut the flap of skin off , clean the wound  then apply antiseptic spray...cover if needed or otherwise keep it dry and leave it to air.

So skin duly cut off , finger soaked in salt water, cleaned, dried then antiseptic spray applied.

Fingers crossed (the ones on my unpoorly hand) :p that it doesn't become infected, cue swollen hand, arm, feeling terrible, unable to work etc...I have endured that discomfort in the past too.

Thanks again you lovely lot :) xx

Strangely enough ive just had the same suggestion suggested to me in private message. Theres at least three of us using bars of soap as an aid to prevent cramp.

It works i know it does. Hubby had a bit of a restless night as i said and woke up shattered this morning which meant he kept me awake which meant i was shattered too. I'll try scraping the surfaces with a potato peeler tonight. I'll let you know how i get on.
The offending pieces of soap... One under his pillow (for his gammy shoulder) two by his feet. :rotfl:
