Morning all
It looks like another scorcher here but with a slight breeze so I am hoping it will be a bit cooler, yesterday was 10 deg cooler and it was bliss !
Off to work again today but its Friday and takeaway and wine night, cant come quickly enough for me !
When I got in from work yesterday there was a bird stuck up the chimney I could hear it flapping
and there was stuff all over the floor, OH put something up as far as he could reach and got two other dead ones out
but not the live one
its all quiet this morning so I am assuming its died, im going to get both chimneys swept soon and get a cap put on that one.
Edit we have just hear it again poor thing is struggling and I am not sure what to do !
Right I had better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Morning all, up at silly o'clock this morning, woke up at 3ish and couldn't get back so I got up and made 3 batches of baby food purees for the smallest one who is coming to visit with his mum and big brother for next week.
Busy day planned as I have to get up to Dunelm Mill to see if I can get us a couple of new duvet covers, having had a purge in the airing cupboard I realised this morning that I've only left us the ones we're using on our bed!!! not exactly brain of Britain eh? I'm going to go right through the house and dust and vacuum to leave tomorrow free for last minute things. Anyone else find that the use by dates on fruit and veg and bread are only about 2 - 3 days nowadays?, not much use when wanting things for a week ahead. Mr.T yesterday seemed only to have things with use by the 23rd June!
KARCHER use warm salt water, soak your poor sore finger, use kitchen towel to dry the outside, see if you can get some honey into the wound (old fashioned but it works) and on top too and if you can get to the pharmacy get yourself a sheet of MELOLIN which is a breathable non-stick dressing sheet that you cut to size for the wound and also a roll of MICROPORE which is a breathable type of 'plaster' and the wound will still be able to breathe as it heals. Change the dressing and re-dress the wound a couple of times a day. Old fashioned but effective.
Have yourselves a nice day, xxx.0 -
Morning :hello:
Yesterday was lovely, it was cloudy and breezy all day, the sun came out at 5pm but the breeze continued. I was hoping for the same today but it's sunny already, still very breezy though.
I'm hoping to do some more gardening today, nothing heavy just a bit of weeding and tidying. I also want to get some more work done then start crocheting a new baby blanket. But it's mr tru's day off and my plans almost always go out the window – perhaps I should throw him out the window with them

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Early delivery of the wood, my trellis and another dump bag of wood chips, huge lorry with a crane, OH is going out to finish weeding and then we will spread must of the wood chips on the front beds.
Its a dull windy morning here, back to warm clothes, fleece and socks. I have towels in the washer, I hope they dry.
Fish and chips tonight for supper, still some strawberries left and OH has now started to pick raspberries, one thing we do not have trouble with is constipation!! Sorry TMI.
Nelski I know what its like to have a critical mother, mine was awful....if you went to see her she would answer the door and say 'what have you come for?' She was really horrible and alienated her family and friends. She was another one who praised anyone but her own grandchildren and then moaned they never went to see her. She accused my son who died of stealing a clock she had given to her cleaner!! The list is endless, her final vindictive act was to leave her money to the cats home, she hated cats, the grandchildren got nothing.0 -
Good morning
Yesterday the forecast was for 3 hours rain, thunder and lightning. We had a 10 minute shower with the distant sound of thunder.
Nelski I know from experience how hard it is when you try your best, only to be criticized or told what you do is not good enough.
You are a good, kind and caring person, so sad you mother can't see it.If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning everyone,
Clear and breezy here today but definitely cooler, I have a cardi on!
Late up this morning as little Tilly had an upset tummy in the night, she is her own worst enemy as picks up and eats any old rubbish, is fine now but I feel like a wrung out cloth.
We are having a new shower tray fitted on Monday in the en-suite so guess who wants to clean in there today, my OH thinks I'm mad, other than that could do with tidying up the garden and generally pottering.
Karcher ouch on the finger
Redruby sorry about the stuck bird, we had Jackdaw-gate earlier in the summer with them falling down our chimney but could release them via the floor in the study (don't ask) it's heartbreaking to hear them struggling.
Have a good day folks x0 -
Morning all,
Raining here and very grey.I havent been out with Ly1a yet and she's sneaked upstairs, she got quite wet enough for her liking just going out for a wee in the garden
I've not been on to post but still reading-busy with DGC and on Wednesday I met up with my 2 cousins for lunch out and I got back at 4.30 :rotfl:,mad rush then to get something ready for tea for the menfolk. We just have DGS staying this weekend as DGD has gone to Scotland with her other Nana and cousins. He is coming at 2 as his Mum is off on another hen do.I did a quick shop after my voluntary stint at school yesterday as I probably wont get chance today and I have a delivery due-fabric and pattern to make DGD a jump suit type thing.

definitely soak that finger asap as you don't want it to go septic.I agree the melolin and micropore will let air get to it yet keep it clean.I would dollop savlon on it as well to help heal I am a great believer in the powers of savlon and my grandchildren call in 'nanny cream '
:):)that with a cuddle, cure all but broken bones to a child
:):)along with a sweetie for being brave of course
:):)
Well still hot in the Garden of England by a nice breeze is blowing which helps a bit. I am round to Dds today and with henry will be doing several tip runs with their junk which has been cluttering up the place We are having a good clear out and the three boys are all helping as it a teacher training day. Then this afternoon its History club which I always enjoy and we are discussing the Royal Academy of Music, should be interesting . I have a coffee morning to go to tomorrow at my friends church so I may make her a cake towards the funds
Hope you all have a good day and chin up Nelski let it go over your head perhaps your Mum is just taking it out on her nearest and dearest because she is feeling angry with her loss at the moment grief does do funny things to people, and anger is one of them.Rise above it honey you are a strong person
take care everyone

Good morning everyone, thanks to nmlc for starting the thread and hugs to anyone that needs one.
Karcher - you do need to get that finger cleaned asap. If you have no antiseptic try bathing it in salty water.
Grey, wet and windy here this morning so no excuse not to do the housework in preparation of guests arriving tomorrow! The chores will I suspect take most of the day.
I had plants arrived yesterday and the quality was not good so now waiting for replacements and a part refund. I'll salvage what I can but hope the new ones arrive quickly. It's a company I've used before with no issues but these were really disappointing.
I hope everyone has a good day x0
