Help please, late payment? Not my fault!

Hi everyone,
I changed my bank (Abbey problems!) and called Barclaycard on 10th September to give them my new royal bank details. The payment is due on the 2nd. I called again around the 25th to make sure the details had changed over and did I need to make a manual payment. No, no they said, it's all set up. Checked bank on 2nd, no payment taken out. Called Barclaycard, who said that maybe RBS system has not updated, but the DD is set up for the 2nd.
Checked Barclaycard statement today, red writing 'Your payment is now overdue'. Called them who said it was a 'system error' and they have refunded the £12 late fee and I will pay on the 2nd Nov the minimum payment by dd .
Will this go against me on my credit file? i.e show that I was late, even though it wasn't my fault? Should I make a manual payment in the meantime?
Thanks in advance

Regarding making a mnaual payment, I would advise you definitely do that, when an account is in arrears, regardless of whether it is your fault or not, there could be a temporary block on the card, and therefore you will not be able to use it until the arrears is cleared.
Regarding affecting your credit file, every late payment and overlimit shows up, however it all depends on how many you have how much of an affect it has. If this is your only ever missed paymment, than one blip will not matter too much, however if you have missed a few other payments it may be worth contacting BarclayCard and asking if they arrange for any effect on your credit file to be removed as you had been incorrectly informed.
If you make the payment before the statement produces, however, than it may not even show as a late payment on you credit history.0 -
I called Barclaycard who said that it wouldn't show on Experian/Equifax etc as I made the payment today, is this correct?
Thanks:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0 -

Assuming the payment clears before your next statement produces, which it sounds like it should, then that is correct, it won't show up as a late payment, however some company will charge a late charge still, although, I believe Barclaycard have already agreed to refund this.0 -
Any missed or late payment will be held on Barclaycard records, but it wont be released to experian/equifax unless you keep missing payments.
In this case it will never show on your credit file.0 -

Unfortunately, you can't believe what Barclaycard tell you in this case. The only way to be sure is to check your credit report and get it put right if necessary.
I am in a very similar situation. Barclaycard recently failed to take a direct debit payment for my card (entirely their fault, as they readily admitted), and the first I knew of it was the £12 fee appearing on my next statement. I spoke to two different people about this on the phone and emphasised to both that I did not expect to see a black mark on my credit report as a result. Today I checked my Experian credit report, and lo and behold "1 late payment".
I am furious, and Barclaycard will shortly receive a very strongly worded letter from me. I believe however in this situation that once it is brought to Experian's attention they will put the record straight.0
