How did they get my details?

The PCN was sent to the registered owner / keeper of the car and passed on to my husband. The vehicle was lees than 15 minutes at the site and the driver did not get out of the car. The driver was not alerted to the fact that it was a 'pay even if you don't stay car park'. My husband replied to the Parking Eye PCN (as he was one of the insured parties of the car) using the format from the forums here (he used the 'grace period' and inadequate signage etc). At no point in his communication was the driver's name given.
Parking Eye emailed him and asked for the driver's name.
He replied ONLY asking that the PCN be cancelled due to the evidence provided in his first letter and that a post here on MSE had celebrated the fact that the ombudsman had ruled in favour of the 'victim' - who stayed for 14 minutes and, like us, didn't know he had to pay. Again, at no point in his communication was the driver's name given.
This morning I have received the PCN from Private Eye stating that I am the registered keeper and / or driver at the time of the alleged parking charge - I am neither.
Parking Eye have stated in my PCN letter today that my details were 'provided by the registered keeper'. THEY WERE NOT!
Further, the name on the PCN, and my correct name on my DVLA details is different to the name on this PCN, (I abbreviate my full name to a shorter version for everyday use and this shorter version is on this PCN).
I am so fed up with this. PE are liars too then huh?
I have a BIG BROTHER feeling about this you know.
Any help gratefully received.

Do you have another thread going on this? I think I recall something similar earlier today. We get so many threads each day, but the forum requires one thread per case. Saves duplicate effort by overstretched regulars and avoids potentially costly confusion. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

One case one thread, please, or we are easily confused and we will understand less about your case if shown lots of odd questions in isolation on separate threads...You will get far more bespoke help by just replying on your single thread.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I posted it under my original thread but nobody replied so I thought I had to start a new one. So sorry.0

If you don't get a reply in your thread, just post a new message saying something like "bump so it's not missed" and that'll put you back on the front page again.0

PM one of board guides (Crabman, soolin or savvy - click on one of the names at the bottom of page 1 thread list, one page back from this one) and ask one to merge your threads.
When the forum is busy (as in most days) it's impossible to answer questions instantly. But if your thread has disappeared off the first page, if you post a little reminder in the thread it will move back up.
