Believe me Mchambers if they now offered £1100 incentive I wouldn't touch them

Fair enough but it is easy to get the £110 incentive. For me, I have 2 proper dds and 2 dds payable to myself via Tesco accounts.

I have done a similar trick with M&S, Halifax, etc. With Halifax, I am making a profit each month as I have 2 dds made payable to myself each month for £1 each and am getting a £3 per month reward.

All rather pathetic really. There was nothing to stop you sitting down with a Co-op branch manager to ensure you understood the terms and conditions before joining. The general idea of signing with a bank is the hope that they do a decent job of running your account smoothly for as little cost as possible - not to go chasing around for a cash induction incentive. So it's down to you for not checking things out properly, not them.

I've been with the Co-op bank for years, and they do a better job than most of their bigger rivals in my experience. A simple no frills service is what they provide. They never had any cash incentive when I joined. Still...it's your choice.

Simple then to get £110. Just switch from coop to another bank (say N/wide) and then switch back to Coop.

Very little effort and you will get £110.

    A strange response!

OP's case is that it's Co-op who aren't adhering to their published Ts & Cs, not that OP didn't check them.

Are you seriously suggesting that everyone wanting to open an account in the 21st century should "sit down with a branch manager to ensure they understand the terms and conditions before joining"?! Things have moved on a bit from Captain Mainwaring you know....

Nothing strange at all. Like I said if there's some condition you're not sure about, eg cash incentives, overdraft charges etc, a chat with a branch manager should sort it out. As it was the OP and possibly yourself who can't be bothered with that kind of thing, in which case you've only got yourself to kick if things don't work out as expected.

bendipa your defence of the Co op Bank is heart-warming but misplaced.

Fail to see how it's misplaced. If you seriously think the Co-op bank are operating a racket with their incentive scheme I suggest you approach BBC Watchdog and tell the world about your harsh treatment. Or try suing the Co-op for breach of contract. I'd feel fairly confident to bet on the outcome. :D

I can tell you I've been with them since 2012 and I've always found them to be rather good as well as a helpful service snd easy to use online facilities. The only disappointment I've had is that when I joined they had a 24/7 customer service on freephone, which was discontinued after they changed hands.
