Nationwide has extended its popular 'refer a friend' scheme to allow anyone with one of its mortgages or savings accounts to earn up to £500 a year - though it's added more hoops to jump through to get the cash.

"The FlexAccount is a bog standard current account, that doesn't come with additional perks."
Linked 5% regular saver is quite a perk...0 -
+ "Exclusive cashback offers when you're shopping online and on the high street, with Simply Rewards"
+ "3 month interest-free overdraft"
I don't value these but some might so they are also perks.0 -
Hi both, we've tweaked the news story to reflect that the FlexAccount doesn't come with additional perks that the FlexDirect and FlexPlus accounts don't also offer.
Thanks,
MSE Rosie

I suggest the above is a confusing use of a double negative. It is not that I never fail to complain where I can.

This no longer applies for new FlexAccounts.0 -
It was gutting when they stopped the repeats, Dw and I used to refer each other every year for 400 quid before they beought that rule in.I think....0

Daughter had a basic current account when she referred me to Nationwide this March. I opened a qualifying account and went to considerable lengths to ensure 2 direct debits were xferred over. Then I discovered her current account wasn't a qualifying current account
.
I don't mind so much because I'll save £60 a year in fees, but she was gutted to lose out on the £100.
I'm not sure what current accounts qualify under the new scheme, but heads up ppl to the small print.Save
