Barclaycard FAP

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone could me any assistance or information please?

I've had my Barclaycard for a few years now, but its only been in the last few months that I've noticed a payment debited each month from my account described as "fap". As I had no idea what this was, I decided to try and find out what it was, but there is no mention of it on any of my statements or on the barclaycard website. However after googling the term, I found something similar which led me to conclude that it must be some kind of accident insurance plan I had taken out, so I thought nothing more of it.

Now as I am reorganising and tidying up my finances, I have decided that the Barclaycard is of no use to me and I have decided to cancel, but I am a bit worried about this "fap" and how I will be expected to pay it once I cancel my Barclaycard account.

So, I was just wondering if anyone else knows what this is? I'm phoning Barclaycard tomorrow anyway and will ask them, but I would like to be armed with some prior knowledge of what it is, and therefore would be very grateful if anyone could help shed some light on this.

Thanks

Rang them today, and as I expected it is something called a Family Accident Plan insurance. I asked if I was able to cancel it and what would be the implications if I did and the woman on the other end said she wasn't sure and I had to ring a different number.

I also asked about closing the barclaycard account completely, but unfortunately I'm not allowed to do that until the last day of the month (???).

I then asked about amending my direct debit to pay the balance off in full (currently only set up to pay minimum amount) but apparently I'm not allowed to do that until next month either. Strange - I'd have thought they would have been keen to take my money.

All in all I was not very impressed with their service (all though I did find out what FAP was) - can't wait until next month.
