Hi All

My colleague would like to move her car to a new address few miles away. This car is currently on SORN. She is currently looking at hiring a specialist company to tow her car.

Are there any cheaper legal alternatives available for her? Please advise

Thanks

I'd have thought a local breakdown/recovery specialist would do it for a modest fee.

Or look on Ebay - there are one man organisations with recovery trucks.

If the car is roadworthy and insured, simply SORNed, then book an MOT en route.

Or - if it has an MOT - tax it, drive it, then cancel the tax.

Does she know any farmers or anyone with a horse? They'll be able to put you in touch with someone who can transport it on a trailer for peanuts.

    What's a "Peanut Trailer"?:rotfl:

    I'll get me jacket.

You'd need to insure it for that to be legal; might be cheaper just to get it transported than pay for MoT and insurance.

Thank you all for your kind replies. The car is not insured and ran out of MOT. Based on the above replies getting it transported seems the only option.

You could insure it, then cancel the policy once it's been moved... But, really, it's going to be easier to transport it.
