Can you go back ANY amount of time for PPI re-claim?

Hi, I have reclaimed funds from all of my loans/credit cards except in one instance. Typically, it involves the largest sum of money. It seems the company I purchased the loan from got sold and re-sold and I basically got nowhere. I went direct to the Financial Ombudsman...but they said as it was before 2009 they could do nothing to intervene. Is this correct?

If they say they can't help, they can't help.

If the company you bought from sold it after 2005, and then went into liquidation or doesn't exist any more, you can try the FSCS.

Otherwise, if the company no longer exists, it's game over.

It's only "correct" if neither you nor the financial institution(s) concerned has records.

You are not allowed to "go direct" to FOS. The Ombudsman Service is the arbiter of disputes and you cannot avail yourself of their services unless you have already made a complaint of mis-selling and been rejected.

So, tell us the exact circumstances in which FOS said they can do nothing and we can comment further...
