Euro car park charge notice

I have tried reading the stickies and to be honest I have found them a bit confusing but I can't see anything that quite relates to my situation. Have tried a search but either there is nothing or I'm using the wrong terms.

Today my husband as the vehicle keeper received a letter from Euro car parks relating to when I parked 11 days ago. I had a ticket but managed to confuse myself when putting the number plate in and mixed up our 2 cars. I have 1 letter wrong in the number plate. If that was just the issue I would try and appeal however I did over stay in the car park by 20 mins so would it be worth it?

It's very obviously a car park. There are signs up saying to pay etc so I don't think appealing on those grounds is worth it.

Normally I'd hold my hands up and pay the fine but I get the feeling it wouldn't have been issued if I'd only entered the details correctly.

Thanks in advance.

There is no fine, and normally not a single person here pays a penny. So forget that idea. Euro Car Parks are not some sort of authority, I've ignored them myself, in the past.

But these days we have POPLA and almost every case is won (and if lost at appeal, you still don't have to pay). So go back to the NEWBIES sticky thread and copy the blue writing appeal for BPA members, into the online appeal box (yep, including the sentence about signs). You can add that the driver did pay & display and attach the driver's ticket, and say that there was a keypad error with one digit but payment was certainly made.

    Do NOT mention the 'overstay'.

DO NOT say 'I' when talking about 'the driver'. The appellant needs to be the keeper, the person named on the PCN.

as for the overstay , the BPA CoP clause #13 covers the before and after parking periods

so say 10 minutes to enter, find a space , park up , read the signs , pay for a ticket and go back to the vehicle

then the driver is allowed OVER 10 minutes to leave the car park after the period of parking has expired

so I would say that twenty minutes is covered under the grace periods of clause #13 of the BPA CoP that they signed up to

    wouldnt you ?

    do as CM says above
  • Thank you both so much!
  • Hello I'm back. I have received a letter today rejecting my claim unfortunately so the next step is the popla claim.

Redx mentioned the grace period above. I had a look at the cop and couldn't see any mention of specific time limits. The letter today states I was 22 minutes over.

I have looked at the stickies again and the second appeal lot are even more confusing than the first . Would someone hold my hand and baby step it for me? Do I need to go back and check out the signs properly?

Thanks you all so much for the help I've had so far and for what is coming.

Your OH the registered keeper, just uses the templates in post #3 of the NEWBIES thread.

That is this forum already holding your hand, because they are written for you! How can the one about signage be confusing...and the one saying 'show me & POPLA the landowner contract'? Not exactly hard to follow? If in doubt, show us the draft for checking.

  • Sorry if i wasn't clear enough, thank you for being so kind in your reply. I wasn't sure whether to mention the grace period I referred to in my post and use that in the appeal process or whether to just stick to what is in the posts? Does it make sense to add more to the appeal or just keep to the basics supplied?

To win a POPLA appeal I would expect you to use what everyone else does v Euro, about 4 or 5 appeal points, a several page long PDF.

Search the forum for Euro POPLA

I am not saying you can't use Grace periods, they are used in lots of Euro POPLA appeals. I was warning against what you said:
Does it make sense to add more to the appeal or just keep to the basics supplied?
which sounded like you were thinking of appealing on 'the basics' and not adding more. I say add more, and then some!

Always add everything and the kitchen sink, IMHO.

  • Thank you. Sorry I'm not very coherent at the moment. My baby has me grumpy and sleep deprived lol. I'll look at it (hopefully) fresh faced tomorrow and see what I can cobble together

I bought the ticket about 2 mins after entering the car park so I assume I cannot use the grace period at the start of the parking period?
