Ordering New Currency Notes

Hello,

Is it possible to order new currency notes (consecutive serial numbers) from the bank? For example, if I want £500 in new £5 notes.

Thanks.

I've done it for foreign currency (U.S Dollars), but not sure if it's possible for sterling.

Ask in a few banks, they will tell you if they can do it.

Can I ask why you want so much in fivers and consecutive numbers ?

    Hi,

Eid (a Muslim festival) is coming up where kids/family get money to spend as a gift. Kids love new crispy notes, more so if they have consecutive serial numbers (showing that they are brand new). They think they are special. :-) Not that they are.

500 was just a round figure I used. I am hoping I wouldn't need nearly that much.

I will check with my banks tomorrow and see what they have.

    Thanks.

You may have to give them a few days' notice.

The Royal Bank of Scotland still issues £1 notes - not sure if they're still printing new ones - which would reduce the bill. :money:

It depends how much you order. If you order, say, £200 the bank will probably just rustle together what they have in the tills. If you order £500 they'd probably set aside a new bundle for you. (For example).

Speak to your local branch and they should be willing to accommodate you.

You may get new fivers in cashpoint machines that offer them.

I went to the bank today. They told me that I can order new currency from them and collect at the counter. It takes 2 days. :-)

    That was at Halifax.

    Thanks all.
