I just happened to go shopping this afternoon....no taking an ipad with me....just a few minutes sitting down with paper and pencil before I left!

I had a look in the fridge...but did NOT take a photo!...I did check the ketchup bottle (good for another week if not two)...and the salad box (almost out of radishes and tomatoes...no surprise there!)...Checked the freezer too just to note what space I have.

Then I checked my coupons and sorted out those I wanted to use today.

Three shops visited....and I stuck to my list!....with offers (a few twofers and apricots were half price) and my coupons...and a very special offer of a free box of chocs from M&S worth £5!!!! (on my Sparks card)...I made some rather tasty savings!

I did watch the show last night.....was I the only one who thought the igloo dessert failed in its brief to be 'high end patisserie'? (But probably found its own market and sold well)....I didn't really learn anything new.

Yes, I use the eye pad as well - post-it note in the kitchen. Yes, I know, totally waste a few seconds a time writing the "that's running out" stuff down, good job I've retired...
  • Taking a photo of you fridge so you don't buy stuff you already have...

So you walk round the supermarket clutching your iPad, reach the yogurt section, check your iPad photo and realise you don't need yogurt. Yawn. With a shopping list you can miss out the yogurt section completely and save time.

I'm fed up seeing Greg Wallace on the TV. He really must be charging mates rates to the BBC, because it cannot be due to popular demand.

I wouldn't shop with an iPad, round lidl? But I do use my phone, not to take photos but to write lists. Each to their own.

Yes it's so ordered that I have time to go shopping clutching an iPad to keep tabs on what I've got and haven't got. "Internet of Things" will go the same way as 3D TVs. :)

I did switch off when I'd sat with interest how a 'handmade' cake still is made via machines in a factory with the only handmade element that was shown was shoving a biscuit base into the ice cream and then, then, this beautiful frosty igloo appeared in a big snowflake plastic dome with a dodgy looking tacky penquin fixed to the front. Off! :rotfl:

Out of interest did the penquin make the final cut for Christmas?

The section of the programme started off on about luxury frozen products. Next we were seeing an igloo roll off a production line with a cartoon penguin stuck to it. Luxury?

I saw it and thought how useful it would be if I could buy a net of three avocados, each with a different ripening date. Not everyone can shop daily to get produce at the height of its' freshness or ripeness, and that would be a huge improvement and save a huge amount of waste.

It's not quite the same, but Asda do sell avocados at different stages of ripeness - they have different coloured stickers on that say whether they're ready to eat now, or need a few more days ripening at home. When I saw that I thought it was a great idea, so often you buy a pack of avocados and they're all ready at the same time, and at least one's gone over before you get to it. Being able to buy at different stages of ripeness is really good.

I have been food shopping for the best part of 60 odd years and have managed quite well and never so far run out ogf anything by using a simple pencil and paper which is normally by the kettle (the most used kitchen utensil in my house :)

When I have at least 8-10 things on the list then I will go shopping if not enough then I will do what my old Mum did years ago and made do with what I have got :):):)

I have to use a stick to walk with, and with my bag over my shoulder I really need to keep at least my left hand free for rummaging in my purse or finding my keys I don't think carrying my IPad as well would help , a small piece of paper tucked in my purse or pocket is a lot more portable for me :):):)
