This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning all, another boiling hot night and I'm getting very tired.
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work, DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Will water the plants shortly too. 2 loads of washing line dried yesterday not enough at the moment for a load this morning, but probably will be tonight once we've all been to work/college, I'll put that on over night and put on the line in the morning.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, tonight I'm not sure but won't be anything too complicated.
Work was busier than we expected, so pleased the air con has been fixed as it would have been unbearable without it. We'll see what today brings.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
The sun is splitting the skies this morning but was quite chilly during the night. No washing today, DW and bins emptied.
Met friends for dinner last night and I've had a dickie tummy ever since, will contact the others to see how they are, may just be me.
Taking the train to work today as DD is taking me after work for my belated birthday treat to a gin bar - 7 course meal and gin, should be good but will have to be careful on a school night! She'll come back here after and wait in for my new table tomorrow.
Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine, it certainly hasn't been as hot here as 'down south' but very nice. Have a good day, take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
Another one here who didn't sleep properly. I will be very happy when the weather cools down a bit. I shall be digging out my maxi dress to wear for today as it is lovely and cool to wear. I am expecting my friend to come over and see me and DD14's support worker is coming to see her this evening.
The girls are all still in bed but I expect them to start stirring their stumps in a minute. Hubby has already left for work and the dog is in disgrace after finding a rather nice pen all chewed up in his bed.
I have to make something with the two boxes of chicken thighs in the fridge today. I had planned a casserole but it is too hot to have the oven on for long. I think I will quickly roast them and then use the meat in a curry. I also picked the wrong week to start having a veg box delivered. I have broccoli, parsnips, swede, cabbage and cauliflower to use as well as kilos of potatoes and onions. I feel hot just thinking about cooking them up.
Right, I'm off to jump in the shower and get dressed. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Good morning
Thank you for the thread Gers.
Camelot hope you feel better soon
It's been hot all night and the forecast is for it to last at least until the weekend.
I don't usually like shopping but spent a very pleasurable half hour in Waitrose yesterday, it was so cool in there.
Nothing planned for today, just try and keep cool.
Hope you all have a good dayIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning everyone.
In the first time for ages the sun is out and shining though I woke to find condensation on my bedroom window. I guess it was cold overnight again.
The assessment material I'm meant to be second marking didn't arrive yesterday so I'm a bit anxious about it now. I'm meant to submit it to the college tomorrow morning so fingers are crossed it arrives today.
My decorator sent me a text to say she could do my hall later this week so I'll spend my newly free time removing the paintings from the walls, that'll take about 20 minutes! Might risk a white wash and my compost delivery is coming too.
Camelot - hope you feel better soon. Flat lemonade helps.
Happy Tuesday to all.0 -
Morning everyone,
Thank you for starting us off gers
Although it’s nice to see some summer weather, yesterday was far too hot for me. The forecast here for today is for a few Celsius lower, and that should suit me much better.
My cousin and his wife headed off for London yesterday afternoon and I shall miss them. It’s back to reality for me today.
I need to do some serious financial planning. I have been putting it off for a while now whilst I have been waiting for my appointment with the cardiologist and that is tomorrow. I need to sit down and work out how much I will have to live on until I reach state pension age at 66 which is just under 9 years. I think some changes will be necessary.
Time to go and get another cup of tea and something for breakfast.
I hope that you all have a good day whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning all
Scorcher here again It was so hot in the kitchen yesterday got up to 39 deg, the clients were wilting, we sat them outside with cold drinks in the end, it was too hot to be in a kitchen !
More of the same today, keep your liquids up folks and put some water out for the birds if you can.
Found out last night that I have won tickets for festival of speed at Goodwood, which is a huge car show which lots of celebs go to and all the latest cars and vintage cars and races and time trials etc, the tickets are very expensive so I am quite excited :j all from entering a competition on FB !
Not sure about dinner tonight but it wont involve much cooking mainly salad stuff, I think there is a quiche in the freezer or I shall make a flambe.
Right better get on stay safe in the heat xx0 -
Good morning chums and another very warm day ahead I think.I enjoy the sun ,but not at this heat a pleasant 70f suits me,any more and I just fell washed out. Coffee morning this morning which is as usual at dobbies so I will get my second free coffee of the month, then round to feed DGS Henry his lunch and we will be tackling some rubbish removal in their garden.
We had a very nice lunch yesterday just Henry and I and he did the three full coursesbut at just a smidgen under 6ft I'm not surprised. He seems to think he has done OK in his exams ,so its wait and see until August.
Far too hot to cook much today so salad will be on the menu for lunch. tonight is quiz night so I don't have to cook as I get fed there:):)
Hope you are all coping with the extreme heat, good job this is the UK and it won't last that long at least
Have a good day chums what ever you are doing and Be safe

Morning (((((((((( hugs )))))))))) if you need one.
Gosh it was hot yesterday again, had the fan going all day, spent most of it reading after I finished the Monday clean.
Our neighbour has gone back into the hospice, for the last time, he will not be coming home again. Very sad, but it's the best place, they have told his wife it will not be long. She is able to stay over with him if she wants to.
It's OH's birthday, he is still asleep, we are going out for lunch. I had a bit of a fail yesterday, OH wants to order the rest of the wood for his deep beds, when we went before I promised them a lemon drizzle cake which I made yesterday, the blessed thing broke as I was taking it out of the tin...it's in the fridge, will see what it's like this morning before I decide whether to take it in or not.
Update
Its a grey morning here, much cooler and more comfortable. In the shower I discovered I have been bitten in the night, so cream and anti histamines are the rule today, I am very allergic to bites.0
