Sorry if its already been posted but I did a forum search and couldnt find it in Tesco threads, even if it has been posted before think of it as a heads up as Tesco dont promote the number much anymore(think the only place you'll see it is on the back of their telecoms mag, however inside they promote the 0845 number).

Happily, that number is already on the SayNoTo0870.com database (search for Tesco Phones) as an alternative to 0845 300 70 80.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Ahh I just couldnt find it on here, hope I've helped some members here anyway.
I've been registered a while on this site & get the weekly emails, just never posted.
I see quite a few people hate Tesco HomePhone,I must be one of the few that on the whole likes it.:D0 -
It's just that there are much better options (see the 'HERE' link in my signature below for some examples).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. I've had a quick look,I'll have a proper look later.
To be honest I hardly ever make chargable calls to people & the calls I do make are about the same as BT or cheaper, add to the fact I'm also getting discount on both by line rental & call charges(think you only get one of those discounts if you are a new customer)for managing the account online & clubcard points & free weekend calls.
Being with BT really p'd me off hense why I 1st switched to Tesco for call charges, then when they offered line rental aswell I switched that aswell.
Tesco have recently cut their package options along with other changes, dont know if you know about that or not.

The only things that bother me regarding the service is that you have to wait until you get your bill to see all the calls you have made & Tesco are taking ages to combine their other services(broadband, mobile),providing they do and nothing or nothing much changes I'd go for a bundle.0 -
As far as I can see, most of the 'changes' are increases!Getting rid of our minimum call charge
From 1st September 2007, we will be removing our minimum call charge of 5p.
Connection Charge
From 1st September 2007, we will introduce a one-off connection charge of 6p per call.
Per Minute Billing
From 1st September 2007, we will be moving from per second to per minute billing.
UK daytime landline rates
From 1st September 2007, the rate for daytime calls to UK landlines will increase from 2.8p per min (ppm) to 3ppm.
Time of day charging for UK Mobile & 0845, 0870 Non-geographic calls
From 1st September 2007, the way Tesco home phone charges for UK mobile and 0845, 0870 non-geographic calls will move from a Daytime-Evening-Weekend rates structure to a simple Daytime (6am-6pm) and Evening (6pm-6am) rates structure. This means if you make a call at 10am on Saturday, you will be charged at the daytime rate.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
