Renew car insurance - same company different quote

My car insurance renewal came through from the Prudential quoting £250 However if I visit their web site and apply online the quote for the same company is £220 Can you start up a new policy with the same company and not renew the old one ?? I would of course have to send them my 'No claims' discount confirmation which would be from themselves. I can't see anything saying the 'new' online quote has to be for new customers only. Any views please

Well thats exactly what i intend to do with my home Buildings & Contents with Barclays which is £100.00 cheaper online.

With a £30.00 difference i am surprised they won't price match if you phone them.

Some providers will let you get away with that. Some will not.

I plan on doing the same with the Pru, the renewal quote is £232, on line exactly the same specs £184, also will go through quidco and hopefully get £95 cash back. They gave me a quote on line so don't see why they won't honour it, I'd have thought they wouldn't have given me a quote if it's not possible. Pity the cash back from quidco has dropped from £125, which I got last year. Oh well, you can't win 'um all.
