Direct Line Foreign Use Extension
I am taking the car (and family) for a long summer break in France, so have just phoned direct line to organise foreign use extension. Their online blurb says "we can give you a maximum of 90 days Foreign Use Extension on your Comprehensive or Third Party Fire & Theft Policy for a small charge." The 'small charge in my case is £174, on an annual policy that is less than £300. In other words, they are charging me the equivalent of 7 months premium for a trip of 51 days. I'm not sure what they classify as a 'small charge' in the ivory tower at direct line, but that is scandalous. As a comparison, I was with Aviva a couple of years ago when I last did this, and their small charge was £29.50 for up to 90 days. Beware, it seems direct line will rip you off if you're planning on taking your car abroad any time soon!

I think you may find that all companies have increased their prices considerably since then. How long was the "couple of Years"? Have you found it cheaper elsewhere? If so, please pass it on, this is a money saving forum after all.;)I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.
