House converted into flats - doesn't match planning permission

  • Thanks for all the responses....... I have now contacted our local planning people through the "send it online" part of their website and had an acknowledgement through.

I was in two minds whether to contact them since as a couple of people mentioned above - is it any of my business and obviously I don't have enough to do?! (or something like that) but I do think it's a bit different from, say, converting a garage for granny to live in as it seems just motivated by profit and greed, of course if there were no rules or consequences and we could all do whatever we want, I'm sure I'd be much better off than I am now (in the short term anyway)..!

It has come up for sale a few times and then gone back between "sale agreed", "for sale", "sold stc", "for sale" etc etc (without actually being sold) and advertised for rent in the meantime.... I know sales fall through for all kinds of reason but given that it's being marketed to landlords I do wonder if something keeps coming up in searches??
  • Regarding HMOs - I think I'm confusing myself (and everyone else) about that... The flats are "self contained" as in: bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, living room as a single "unit" for each flat. They're intended to be let to a family (or other 'unit' of people) rather than letting the individual bedrooms.
