Hello to all you experts out there.
Your views and thoughts please.
I own a BMW 118i, 3 cylinder, 1.5, 2015 model, automatic.
In my opinion there is a vibration issue between 1800 and 2000 revs, engine sound changes and vibration can be felt in the steering wheel.
After road testing the dealer says there is no problem, BMW uk are going along with that. I don't agree with them, they say I need to get a second opinion from a BMW approved garage.
There are stories on forums about crankshaft / bearing problems with these engines, all alleged of course.
Has anyone out there heard of similar stories to mine.
Kind regards. N

Can you not test drive an identical car and see if it is the same?
Having a cylinder missing is going to cause some vibration issues compared to one with all 4, you would hope BMW engineered in a solution.......I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

I would go to a local BMW dealer and test drive another alot of 3 cylinder engines do vibrate thou most sound like a 911 Porsche and got as much grunt as my lawnmower0

The last 3-cylinder engine I drove was in a Triumph motorbike and was incredibly smooth. However, in a car I imagine a 3-pot 1.5 is going to be a pretty revvy unit. Perhaps 1500-2000 revs is its rough spot? Is it smooth above this?If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0

No 3-cylinder engine has ever, in the history of ever, sounded like a flat-6 Porsche 911, unless your experience of them only includes those only firing on one bank.0 -
