Used my Nationwide debit card - no cash out of machine but got charged

Hi all,
Yesterday I used my Nationwide debit card in a supermarket cash point - when I requested cash a message came up saying 'sorry but your financial institution is currently unavailable.' So no cash was withdrawn - however, checking my online banking I have been charged for the amount of cash which I never received. I phoned Nationwide who said it was down to a system error. Checked my account today and still have not received the refund.
Has anyone had a similar experience like this? If so, how long does it usually take to be given a refund?
Many thanks.

The best people to have asked how long would have been Nationwide during your phone call. But I believe it's anything up to 7 (working?) days.0

If the money has not been returned to your account by the close of business tomorrow then contact the ATM disputes team at Nationwide.
They will tell the procedure and timescales.0 -
Similar: I tried to make a faster payment to Aqua on Thursday. All I got from the app was "system failure, please make this payment again". Errr.....no, I'll check my bank account first. Sure enough, showing as a pending payment. Rang Aqua, who said they were very sorry, but the amount should go back into my account within seven days. No sweat..for me, but I could see it being a problem for some.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0

As the bank would charge you for an overdraft, they should pay interest for the duration of the delay beyond next working day.0

If the cash wasn't withdrawn at a Nationwide ATM then they're not responsible.DEBT FREE!
