VPN and Virgin?

I've heard 'tales' of Virginmedia's incompatibility with VPN's?
Can anyone recommend a VPN that is compatible and easy to install for someone who is not completely confident with IT issues/
Thank you.

Where do you want to install the VPN? I'm a Virgin customer and I use NordVPN which has been fine, but only installed on my laptop for internet access. If you want to install on the router and/or TV box so that all comms are covered then you'll need to wait for somebody with more knowledge than me to respond.

I'm using Cyberghost on my desktop with Virgin and have no problems.
Easy to install and use, it also has a free trial mode that is a little slower but will give you an idea how it works and if you'll like it.

There is no 'incompatibility', it is only data! Bet like Sly, it is a business model incompatibility: if they see large amount of data coming down, you are probably watching films ect, without paying Virgin, so to penalize and try and make you do things different, they reroute that traffic stream so it is blocked, or trickles down.

NordVPN works for me on Virgin both installed on a PC (NAS) and also on Asus router to cover every device.

My understanding is that some of the newer routers on both Virgin and BT, had a "bug" where they blocked VPN, but apparently that was fixed after people complained of being unable to work from home via their employers VPN.

My personal opinion is that some suit told the techs to block VPNs in the router firmware, without fully understanding the implications and then refused to listen to reason.

should be very easy to find non work vpns. There are a few hundred provider's servers, so all you need is to find the most popular ip that carries the most data that is encrypted, Some companies even make their server ips public.

Sly vastly reduced my vpn traffic, non vpn was ok.

I've been using TorGuard VPN for a couple of years now. We moved house back in February and switched from PlusNet to Virgin and there's been no problems using the VPN service with the router they supplied.
