Full Price paid for Ring now in Sale!

Hi

I'm sure this question has been asked a hundred times, but if the value was't so significant I probably would've let it go!

A few weeks ago my daughters boyfriend purchased a £1,400 engagement ring from a well known high street jeweler. Yesterday he proposed, and let everybody know on social media. Out of curiosity I wanted to look at the ring in more detail, so today I went to the jewelers website, only to discover that the ring was on sale, Now if it had been reduced by £50 or £ 100 I would've have let it go, but it was reduced to £850!! This is a massive £550 difference or 39%

I feel angry because this ring was more than half his monthly salary, and before I go in full steam ahead I would like to get advice, perhaps you have been in a similar situation or have some knowledge of these things, I would love to hear from you and your experiences?

The couple are very happy, having an amazing time in Mexico.

Thank you

Lawrie

So lets say you bought an item in a sale, when the sale ends and the item is now back at its normal higher price, would you return to the store and pay the difference?

    Hi,

send it back, say it didn't fit, then buy in sale.

Edit: You were being a bit nosey, did you think he was being stingy and your daughter deserved better?

if you live in chatham should have gone to Kaizen Jewellers in Rochester high street rather than a "well known high street name"

that £1400 for the ring there would translate to a much better quality ring than the high street name

  • Thank you all for your advice and words of wisdom, I think keeping schtum on this occasion is the best course of action. They are happy and that's what counts.
  • Hi,

well known High Street Jewellers are honest and genuine, even Gerald Ratner admitted his stuff was 'crap', now that's honesty.

You're wrong, it's been asked many, many more times than that, and every single time the answer is the same.

    Is that because you're

    A) angry at him for spending so much or
    B) angry at him for not earning enough?
