Does anybody know if you withdraw money at an ATM on Amex charge card do they charge a fee?

  • Let me Google that for you: https://www.americanexpress.com/uk/cash_assets/faqs.html#q4
Our fees are typically 3% of the cash transactions or £3, whichever is higher.
If you use your Card internationally, you may be charged a non-sterling transaction fee in addition to a local ATM transaction fee.
You'll find detailed explanations of all our fees in your Card Terms and Conditions as well as on your monthly statements.

    Great many thanks :-)
  • You need to apply for the "Express Cash" facility and you will get a separate limit for cash. I haven't applied for it personally so I have no idea what the criteria are and what a normal limit is - but I'm fairly sure that when your card comes, you won't be able to withdraw cash on it.

Hi, on the Charge Cards there is no option to withdraw cash. In the Platinum welcome pack it says you can withdraw £8000 for emergency, but it has to be applied for. If you try and withdraw from an ATM it will give your card back.

I've spoke to customer service and they advised you can withdraw cash but you have to apply for it, it's up to £2500 a month if approved.

You have to enrol for Express Cash, When you do this you will be asked for details of a bank account which is to be debited in respect of these transactions. When you use the charge card to withdraw cash, the transaction will not appear on your charge card statement. Instead, the amount of the cash withdrawal plus fee will be direct debited from the bank account that you have used for Express Cash a few days after the withdrawal is made, independently of your normal charge card payments.
