Buying in 3rd year

Hi all,

Apologies for asking a stupid question, I am looking to purchase a Fiesta, it's a 14 plate and the first MOT is due April 2018.

It isn't from a Ford main dealer but a reputable car supermarket garage.

It comes with 3 months warranty, does anyone know if it should still come with a Ford warranty?

Secondly, The MOT is due April 2018, that means it's due in 10 months time. Should I ask the garage to extend the warranty to say May 2018 to extend my peace of mind?

Many thanks

It will have a 3 year warranty from new, IIRC this will be from the date of first registration.

Surely if it is a 14 plate it will be due an MOT this year? Or am I missing something?
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

Exactly, if it's a 14 plate and the MOT is in April then it was registered in April 2014 and the MOT would have been due back in April this year. Also any manufacturer warranty would have run out by now.

It can't be the first MOT must have had one in April 2017? Check here if you have the reg no https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history

You're unlikely to get a warranty for that long, unless you pay for it / buy a used car warranty elsewhere

Sorry guys, the car was registered 31/7/2014 so I guess It should come with 12 months warranty. I've also noticed there's an admin fee of £180!

The current MOT runs out April 2018 ( initially I incorrectly said first MOT)

    Time to look elsewhere

Why should it come with a 12 month warranty?

Again, the MOT is on the anniversary of the registration date, so the next MOT will be July this year. It should have 2 months left of the manufacturer's warranty.
