Revisiting Laptop search

Hi, recently i got a lot of help from this community when researching a refurb laptop...

i ended up going a fair way down the route of buying one from MCScom. They had some great deals on Latitudes on May and there was one that i particularly liked the look of but when i tried to research it the model number was bogus. I contacted them and rather than replying, they waited a little while then removed the link.
In the meantime a couple of the other interesting ones had sold and right now they haven't very much on offer.
Can anyone recommend any other refurb sites?

Personally I would have liked a Full HD screen and/or dedicated graphics. But it will be a snappy machine with it's ample RAM and SSD.

i've looked at that laptop a few times and there must have been something i wasn't keen on...but right now i cant think what it was?

We are buying Lenovo T520s with Windows 7, and probably T530s when the former run out.

Scruffy lid? That's the reason for the x. Doesn't affect performance and backed up by the full 12 month warranty.
Ideally it would have the Full HD screen.
...or is it the lack of an optical drive?

To be fair you had a lot of options before, such as this

So everything else is poor in comparison.

The MCS website does have a close up picture of the lid. Click on it and then click on the two headed arrow at the top left hand of the picture.

Where is the breach of the law to which you allude?

Consumer Contracts Regulations give you the right to cancel your order within 14 days after delivery.

Regarding the warranty, do not worry, you are covered by the consumer credit act, the Dragon ebay listing is in breach of the law or rather its terms will be considered void as they attempt to deprive you of your statutory rights under common law, namely the Consumer Rights Act of 2015..

The main differences are

The MCS offers a small but way faster 128gb SSD (value around £50) While Dragon offer 500gb HD, the SSD will be faster but less capacity, you can add 120gb SSD for £47 or 240gb for £67, the cost of a 500gb used disk on eBay is around £25 including shipping, this one is £23

So the MCS wins by £24 here

One difference which may be a typo

MCS says it has Dell Wireless 1506 which is a 802.11b/g/n (2.4GH)

Dragon says it has Dual Band Wireless which usually describes Wireless AC which is faster and more powerful. It was an option for Dell but you might want to fire a question over to Dragon to check.

Wireless AC adapter costs around £7 from China

MCS @210-£24=£186 Dragon @ £199-£35=£164-£7=£157

MCS says it has a scruffy lid, the Dragon says "denting to lid” you can change those for £10 to £20 plus the time to do it. But Dragon dent does not look too bad. No close pic for MCS

So I would be inclined to go for the Dragon eBay one, rip out the 4gb of ram and sell it, use proceeds to buy an SSD.
