Edf

Just had a call, purporting to be from EDF, regarding our electricity bill at work. Allegedly, there is a query on our supply number. The guy had quite a lot of information, but my instinct said scam/cold caller & when I challenged him about it, & that I felt it was a scam, he said they were the only ones who would have the supply number.

He tried to get the value of the last bill & when I pointed out that if he was from EDF, it would show on the system he quickly replied that he was from the metering department. Hung up at that stage, but was my instinct correct?

Probably - most phone scammers have lots of info on us these days, which is why they get away with the scams so often. Best bet is to ring EDF yourself and explain what's happened - if it was legit they'd be able to tell you.
