Does it matter how you place your details (post entries)

Ok so I've started to enter competitions via post (mainly ITV's). Over time we've always been told she. Entering competitions via post to either place the address where the postcard/SAE is going to on the right side and your details on the left. Or their address on one side (stamp side) and your own details on flip side.

So with most post competitions now scanning post does it make a difference how and where my details are? Could I place my details upside down or going sideways?

Yeah - that's normal for postcards...

Some compers suggest putting your details sideways or at an angle to avoid the Royal Mail machinery sorting it based on your postcode and delivering the card back to you - which has happened to me a few times. But as the ITV comps usually only want Name and Phone # that's not an issue. So I'd say make it as clear as possible to avoid the possibility of your card either being misread or discarded as unreadable. Pre-printing sticky labels may help if you are planning to enter a lot.
I need to think of something new here...
  • I always write To: and From: over the different addresses too.

From experience. Easiest way to distinguish to/from is 2 diagonal lines through the 'from' address.

also putting phone number after post code is supposed to stop their reader picking up your post code and it coming back to you too

I made my own postcards and I just write the address to where it's going on one side, and then on the other side I write my details sideways.
I read on here that putting stickers on the address side helps highlight the card. It hasn't been lucky yet, but I'm optimistic (I think lol)
    thanks for the tips.

Does it matter if you use Postcards or SAE? I also wonder that my hand writing isn't eligible for Royal Mail machines to read. It's probably not my best talent my hand writing

You would have to check the T&Cs of the individual competitions, some allow on the back of a sealed envelope, some inside an envelope.
