Swinton setting up DD after I cancelled it

I cancelled my insurance after it ran out I wrote to them 3 times to say I didnt want it I even cancelled my direct debit with them. I went in to the ba nk only to find out that I have had another one set up without my say so taking out money that wasnt in the account now I'm getting charged for it!!

Also Swinton want £149 :eek: for cancelling my policy that I didnt take out with them! :mad:

Some help me please as I'm now getting letter with legal action.

    Was it an auto-renewal policy?

    How long had passed after renewal before you told them you didnt want it?

    The important place to cancel it is with the bank. Did you do that? If so, then the bank should use the direct debit guarantee to refund the premiums to you due to breach of d/d rules.
