Is this non-dependent couple living together in the same household? (Presumably) And on the same, joint&several, tenancy? Is it a tenancy with a private landlord (one set of calculations) or council or housing association (or other type of landlord...) please?

do you mean 2 people that are not in a relationship but are renting somewhere together...brother and sister/parent and adult child/friends
or a couple in a relationship that currently keep their finances separate?

or is the tenancy in the parents name and they live with the parents?

you ned to clarify what you mean by 'non dependant couple'

do you mean they are non dependantts of the parents but they are a couple?

Do you mean - the parents claim part housing benefit because the father works and then there is a non-dependant deduction from the benefit award because of the other 2 adults (child and partner) living in the property ?
  • For a non dep couple their gross income (income before tax ni contributions etc) is added together and one non dep deduction is taken.
These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.

this is what we thought , as they are both full time it should be the max deduction which is about £95
  • Are the housing benefit claimants pensioners? If so there is no non dep deduction for 6 months.
