Nice Barcelona Restaurants?

Hi there

I'm off to Barcelona in a couple of weeks and was wondering if anyone had any good restaurant recommendations? I'm staying just above the Ramblas and looking for some nice, but not too expensive places to eat.

Never been for more than a day before so any info you can give me would be fab! Thanks!

Can't find my guide book at the mo, all I would say is look for restaurants with a spanish only menu (take a phrase book. These are usaully a bit off La Ramblas by a street or 2). These restauarants are catering for the locals & are usually cheap & tasty. I would suggest Creme Catalan or Catalan pudding as a desert.

PS Spanish restaurants quite often open about 9pm, If you see a queue join it, they fill up fast.

I was talking to a waiter who used to work in Barcelona. He said that the restaurants on la Ramblas used the following trick. They drag you in, ask what you would like to eat, without showing you the menu and before you know it you will have a bill for €150 for your meal. He said that you should go to the restaurants down the side streets and eat for what the locals would pay.

Plenty of cheap places. Big big city, look beyond the Ramblas. As suggested look for the queues. I took Lonely Planet guide which gave some good places to eat.
Enjoy yourself its my favourite city a great place.
