Morning everyone,
Thanks for the thread nmlc, what a lovely surprise for youhave a fab time away.
Positive vibes for TA's hospital appointment and Dumpling's school visit.
Warm and sunny here in EA, we are off to the farm shop soon to pick up some meat for the freezer, they have their own butchers and have never disappointed on taste or flavour. The village nursery have been advertising a fruit and veg stall which had just started up, all locally grown produce. I cycled down there yesterday and picked up a big vine of tomatoes yesterday for £1.20, ours aren't ready yet so was a welcome addition to our salad lunch.
It was warm enough to get the dogs paddling pool out and they had great fun in it, Tilly kept jumping in and out but my old dog just got in and laid down, with a contented sighdo feel sorry for them with their fur coats on in this weather.
Right, better get a move on, have a good day folks x0 -
Good morning
Dumpling one way to get rid of any negative thoughts is to run a really positive song in your head when you feel confidence dropping ...I know some people hate it but an example would be Beautiful by James Blunt. If you have an ipod then even better. Confidence is all about what you tell yourself so if the music is telling you good stuff then your confidence will grow.
TA I hope your appointment with Mr TA goes OK today
Nice blue sky here today again but forecast for rain later so will need to make the most of the morning
Work today interspersed with tidying the kitchen which is shocking and more mum cooking if the mood grabs me.
Does anyone have any nice recipes for using some lovely marmalade btw? Mum couldn't open the jar so in her infinite wisdom decided to stab the lid with a knife :eek: (I know ) anyway it worked and she survived but of course then she decided she didn't like this one (it was one I suggested of course) so had to buy her usual this week. Anyway I need to use it up now (although I have thought whilst typing this about just putting it in one of my spare jars but no i don't need it so want to use it) so any recipes using lots of marmalade would be greatThank you :A
Might squeeze in a trip to costco today too ..mum needs some loo rolls and likes the costco ones which is good as 40 rolls will last her quite some time. My purse fears costco though it starts to shake on the way inI would take mum but she says its too cold in there :rotfl: what a precious little snowflake
Anyway I need a couple of things from there but not much and will be strong ....I cant afford random buys right now.
Right waffled for long enough have a lovely day and wish me luck in costco0 -
Camelot great news for your daughter. Glad she found something so quickly.
nmlc what a lovely gesture. It does restore your faith in people.
Dumpling I second nelski's suggestion. I have a positive playlist on my IPod. You can also find positive podcasts if you have access to ITunes or similar - I have a Weight Loss one I play in my car.
Been to the gym, and done a Lidl shop. I'm dog walking with a friend at 11. Helping her out with her business while her colleague is on holiday. 7 dogs between us today. Fingers crossed the rain holds off.
Have a great day people.Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o0 -
Morning all,
Yesterday I went to the gym again after work and home for a bit of housework and 24 Hours in A&E. I said it before on this thread and I'll say it again as it's even more relevant given what happened in London the other night: our emergancy services are taken for granted. The police who run towards terrorists while the public run for the lives, the NHS save the lives of those who otherwise would have passed away and the fire brigade run up the stairs of an inferno tower while residents run out. The word hero is thrown about far too much for my liking however some of these men and women really are heroes.
The Oxford English Dictionary defines a hero as;
hero
noun
1. a person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.
Very apt for the men and women who risk their lives for ours. My thoughts are with all those effected in the recent events in London and Manchester.
Anyway, I must get back to work here in overcast Glasgow. Double session in the gym again today with homemade chilli for dinner.

Morning all,I don't know if this link is of any help to you Judi, a friend of mine is a director of a college that is on the register of apprentichttps://www.gov.uk/apply-apprenticeshipeship training providers. I have just contacted her and she suggested this link because you can search by area or field that he would like to work in. There is also contact details for a helpline. https://www.gov.uk/apply-apprenticeship
Prodigal is going to find it hard anyway as he doesnt drive. Well we started him off with lessons but he decided to go his own sweet way....Drink, drugs, or anything else he could get off his face on. .
Moving on. A hound has got bad guts. Caught Livewire yesterday slipping her extra food off his plate. It doesnt take much to upset their tummies.. hence i was up at 3am with a hound that was desperate to go out. Bread does not sit well in their tummies.
Hubby is suffering on the building site with the heat. Youngest is suffering with his hayfever and ive sent Prodigal a message... a plan of action if you like:
1. Get a job. Start off by signing up to construction site agencies as a general labourer.
2. Have lessons, pass his test and save towards a car
3. When he is mobile he can then think about apprenticeships but he's going to need some money to start him off. I'm hoping to be able to work on hubby to help financially. He says he wont but he's pretty much given up on him. Good job his Mum and his mates havent.
Plans for today include the ritualistic vacuuming, changing bed linen and laundry. Need to bleach outside the house too.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Good morning everyone and a brilliant sunny day in Kent, already its quite warm and we have a very warm weekend forecast.
Nelski I like a baked apple with marmalade where the core was and topped with some sultanas, and the obligatory dollop of creamof course.Give a sweet and sharp flavour at the same time. Or a latticed tart using marmalade instead of jam and depending on the flavour marmalade top with perhaps mandarin oranges and of course some cream ... can we see a pattern here with cream
:):)
Well done for you DD camelot in getting a job so quickly ,in this day and age its not an easy task.
Keep up the good work dumpling you are doing so welland positive vibes for 3.15
TA I hope all goes well with the appointment today, make sure you take plenty of water to drink it can get pricey in hospitals ,and of course a book to read
Holleyharvey well done on your'wheels' My trolley 'Betty' is a godsend when I don't want to use the car. As you say it will pay for itself in a few weeks .
This afternoon I promised to go to a W.I. meeting with my friend as she is too shy to go on her own .
One thing I am not is shy so I will give her a bit of a confidence boost, and have a quiet word with a few ladies to enable her to feel welcome. My late OH used to say I would chat to the devil himselfbecause I am by nature a curious person, and its never bothered me to natter to anyone ,but I know she dies a thousand deaths at the thought of anywhere strange and out of her comfort zone.Such a shame because she is such a kind and gentle person. We can't all be the same, and she will hopefully enjoy the afternoon.
DGS Henry had a day of today as a 'study' day and tomorrow is his last exam. I shall pop in later on to make sure he has eaten and is OK.
Hope you all have a good day what ever you are doing and the sun shines down on you all

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Thoughts today with those people caught up in the dreadful fire, heads have to roll, it was a death trap and I guess many of those who died will be mostly unidentifiable. Once again the emergency services have done their job wonderfully. It must be hell on earth for those firefighters, knowing people were trapped and not being able to save them.
OH is in the garden mowing the lawn, he is a menace with the mower, this morning he has ar**d over a large pot with a hosta in it and broken the pot. It was one of a pair we were given as wedding presents 20 years ago. I have tied it up with string for now, once the hosta dies down I will transfer it to another large pot we have and maybe split it.
Belly pork tonight, I usually do it as a stew with beans, but its very lean so will roast it in the remoska, we will have it with mash and veg.
Still picking lots of strawberries, neighbours will be getting fed up soon. I might weigh todays and freeze them, can make jam later, even if its only a couple of pots.
Ideas forming re my next project for the Artisan fair in November, based on Dresden plates, or maybe grandmothers fan for table mats. I need to find the pattern for the Christmas tree wall hanging as well, I can use up scraps for that too. Just now the 3/4 tree skirt is on the table I need to cut the wadding and backing and quilt it. My sewing machine has the accufeed system which makes it very easy to quilt thick things and also sew binding on. I had it on my 12000, its brilliant, so was delighted to find it on this machine too.
Time to put the kettle on for morning tea, its a bit breezier this morning, so not so warm.........we will sit in the garden for half an hour.0 -
Morning all
Just a quick one and will hopefully return later for a catch up.
Had to cancel going to dads as DD phoned late last night because DGS was unwell, so he's been here since 7am. He has a headache and a temperature and DH has a headache and a sore throat, so looks like I'm nurse, head cook and bottle washer for the day :rotfl:. Phoned dad earlier this morning and he is unwell too so he was glad that I had to cancel, but he may come over for his tea if he feels like it, no problem if he doesn't as I made sure he has plenty of food to hand.
Have a good day everyoneFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -

Nelski, I dont do links but try googling "Miss Thrifty Chocolate Orange Cake."
If the marmalade is not the orange sort you are on you're own!I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.0
