Meter Exchange - Leaving Supplier

I have had my meter changed this week and have moved from pre-payment to credit (smart) meter.
I am currently on a Standard tariff so not currently tied in to anything and after doing a comparison there are a lot cheaper companies out there (with npower at the moment).
My only worry is about the meter exchange - are they able to charge me for this if I leave?
Thanks in advance

In general NO, but you might want to check your supplier's terms and conditions of their website.0

The smart meter will probably become a 'dumb' meter with a new supplier.
Many suppliers will carry out a 'credit check' before acceptance.0
