Only know what PP blogged. Ask the Q on his blog, maybe he knows?

I was told by a contact that the offences brought by TS were all in relation to logos and Trade Organisation that NGPM Ltd were displaying.

Nothing to do with the terms on signs or advertising consent or rogue practices, all about logos and whether they were members of who they said they were members of (not just the BPA).

The excuses (stuff about stickers on signs being placed then removed - true or not - hmmmm...?!) didn't wash with those who wanted TS to come down harder on them. A partial cop out, seems to me.

But a useful result to quote against this PPC and others using dodgy logos.

Logos are important, especially if claiming membership of a trade body to which you have no affiliation.

It is good to see a Trading Standards Department taking action on behalf of the consumer, so often Councils cut funding to consumer protection in order to employ their full quota of Diversity Co-ordinators.

I agree logos are important as this case shows.

I often wonder how an appeal to the IPC would go if logos were a significant factor. Something along the lines of

"the driver examined the signage and saw the operator was a BPA member. The driver knowing and understanding the BPA code of conduct has great faith in their operators.

On this basis the driver chose to park. Had the driver been made aware the operator was not a BPA member they would have left the car park and found an alternate place to park."

A few photos of signs showing BPA logos and it could make Skippy have to do a little more work than cutting and pasting rejection points.
