Sigh - new printer arrives and I start the usual - crawl around under the desk to connect it all up - apart from USB(I do follw instructions - lol).
Get software all installed and instructions to insert USB - not recognised - unknown device etc etc!!!!
Aargh - so I try to manually find the drivers in Hardware devices - nothing!!!!
So I uninstall software and go to HP website to dl the drivers from there - same problem.
Maybe it's my pc -So I boot up laptop - and try to install on there - no luck again!! In fact the error message says the unknown device has caused a power surge to the USB and I have to reset the ports - sigh!!!
It's all back in the box ready to go back to Dabs now - but why???? Gahh!!
I just put the old (Dell) printer back on and it took 30 secs to install and installed a wireless router in about 5 mins - I'm NOT a techy btw - so is it a hardware fault with the printer, do you think????

Is this XP?
Do you leave it for a bit when it says incorrect driver - I've installed a Dell printer that had it's own crappy software for drivers and it picked up after a few minutes and auto closed the driver box etc....Neil0 -
Didn't have a message about incorrect drivers - just couldn't find any.
Yes it is XP
Dell printer is fine - it's the HP one that's playing up and I left it for a while to see if it could find it but no joy.
Actually it's quite handy that it's duff as I ordered the wrong one from Dabs - I wanted an all in one NOT a photo printer - ordered in a hurry - D'oh!!! Just got to figure out how to do a return now as I paid via google checkout rather than Dabs direct to get a fiver off.Noli nothis permittere te terere
