Hi All,
This may sound a bit stupid but i need to know when my house was built.
I thought about 12 years old but now think it may be older but i'm unsure how to find out for defo. I've only lived here a year, first house, so i'm a bit new to all of this.
Any ideas who i could contact to find out?
Cheers,
Chris

Did you have a survey when you bought the house? That should give you an indication, but it's not entirely accurate.
The deeds may show it, but they're probably with the mortgage lender. You can search the Land Registry Online for a fee of £2.
Have a good look through the all the papers issued e.g. by your solicitor when you bought the house. There's bound to be something in there.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

Thanks for the answer.
i've looked at some of the papers and they are docs from council with 1979 but im unsure is this is when planning permission was granted or the house built.
What should it say on the docs to indicate when house was built??
It is a barratts house - could i contact them? would they be able to tell me?0 -
Barratts may be able to tell you, but they are unlikely to have had full computerised records in 1979, so it might take a bit of work for them to find out for you. The other methods mentioned might be quicker.0
