How to hide wheelie bins

Hi all - ideas needed!

We have two wheelie bins right by the front door, right under the kitchen window. It's the only place they can go and they look awful, makes the front of the house look really untidy and not very welcoming.

Any ideas on how to hide them? I can't put anything permanently in front as they do need to be moved out on bin day. I'm not against a bit of DIY, but I want to solution to be cheap as chips - on Amazon the cheapest kind of screen is £80 which seems far far too much, I'd like to pay as little as possible!

A blanket is one solution(!) Another is to "decorate" the bins with a floral wrap or similar. Other than that, you're into the realm of constructing a mini-shed sort of thing. Could you sink a couple of posts and wrap the perimeter of the enclosure with the sort of bamboo wrapping people put against fences? Easy to roll back on bin day and pretty cheap. Not sure it'll look wonderful, but I don't think anything will to be honest.

£80 for a screen sounds VERY good. Cheaper than that you might as well stick to the looks of the bins they will be better.

Try giving the bins a good wash on the outside (and in to get rid of the smells). If you would like further ideas try looking at DIY ideas onpinterest

What about a Tracey Island style bin lift?

You can press a button and say "Binbirds are go". As the flowerbed slides backwards and the bins rise up and are ready to be pushed a few metres closer to the road.

Would work a treat, might be a tad pricy though.

Do your neighbours have their bins in similar places? If so, I wouldn't worry about it too much - it'll be obvious to everybody that you have to do it, you're not just slobs! Don't let them smell bad, maybe get some nice decorative house numbers (or at least write/paint the number neatly!) or those wrap things to show you've made an effort and I would be happy with that. You could perhaps get some taller plants in pots to put in front of them.

Maybe some protection , similar to when you want to protect your suit.
that you get from m&s/ dry cleaner etc. Or something similar to what protects guitar amplifiers when going to rehearsal etc. Size is the issue tho
