Flymo Venturer 320 - how to disassemble rear roller

The height adjusters snapped on my Flymo Venturer 320 recently so I bought a couple of replacements. Although I have managed to remove the entire assembly (the roller and height guides) from the machine itself, I can't get the guides off the roller. I presume it should be possible, given that you can buy replacement plastic guides, but I can't get them off the metal bar. I've tried securing it at one end and twisting the other (not easy; there's not much play) but nothing doing.

The orange bits are what I want to get off but I can't find any way to release them. Any ideas? The manual doesn't cover it.

It looks like the silver/chrome caps on the end are push-on (well hammer on) grip. Try easing one off with a large bladed screwdriver. The cap will contain something like this.
  • Thank you. That certainly sounds plausible; I will give that a go this evening. I know it must come apart somehow or they wouldn't have got the bar through the holes int he first place.

    Cheers.
  • Sorry, it took longer than I had hoped to get around to it but I can confirm that the cap did lever off the end with a screwdriver and looked very similar to the illustration provided. Thank you, Le_Kirk.
