Also this has caused a lot of distress.

In what way has this caused you distress? I could expect a small child to be upset about this, at least until their parent arranged for an alternative puppy, but a grown adult?!

If you don't want the dog, what do you want?

Any reason why you are not looking for a pet from a rescue? Then you could use the money you save on some counselling for your distress ...

Ok well maybe I'll contact a solicitor re this. I wouldn't want their puppy anyway. I like a good relationship with breeders

    Thanks all

Why would you contact a solicitor if you don't want the dog?

The OP wants the puppy, it is the breeder that has refused to give the OP the puppy as they now want to keep it

I would still not book a course until i had the puppy

    Exactly this.

I researched my breeders thoroughly a few years ago and chose a beautiful boy from a champion line breeder. Sadly the pup died before he even came home to me.
Whilst I realise this is fairly rare, it's also a good reason not to book things until pup is settled.

As it transpired, fate led me to the somewhat portly, snoring little dog sat beside me. I didn't book his puppy classes until he'd been poked and prodded by our own vet.
