Thames Water says no water meter but there is one

We had to have a meter installed some time ago but were given the choice of using or not. We chose not to but can change our mind at any time.0

I had water meters fitted about 18 months ago, need to have 2 as I live in a flat. It's been a fight for me to get the meters activated & only just managed it.
Thames water were quite insistent for months that I didn't have a water meter, even though I gave them the meter numbers & installation date.
It's taken this long to get them to understand that not only do I have a meter, but would like it to be activated.
I think this illustrates that they don't always know what they are talking about & that the various departments don't communicate with each other. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
I moved to the property already and dont have any contact details to previous owners but all the paperwork from solicitors states there is no meter.
I am 99% sure the meter was installed by Thames Water due to their labels on a small box next to the reader which EmmyLou30 identified as possible outreader.
I looked at my past bills from previous place with meter and they seem to be at similar level to the rate I was quoted by Thames Water in new place so as far as I can see there is no financial benefit for me to get this any further.
It looks like it will become an issue for me only when I start doing kitchen refurb in the future as it is installed in an awkward place so definitely will need to get it moved. However it is not happening any time soon so I will just leave it as it is for now.0
