    Wot AdrianC said (post 5).

Take out insurance towards the end of the month - cancel within 2 weeks. Only have to pay pro-rata.

Offered to pay in full before the end of the month but collect on the 4th. But it need to be taxed and gone. Bye...

That's what I was thinking; will they let you pay for it now and keep it in secure storage until you collect? Or what happens if you refuse to pay until the 2nd? Will they give you the deposit back and let you buy a different car? Odds are it'll still be sitting on the forecourt.

You don't need to tell them it's due to the insurance, just say something like "I've sold some stock to pay for it, but the money won't hit my bank account until the 2nd, so I absolutely cannot pay you until then".

We could pay for it but they just wanted it collected before the end of the month. Because the insurance was not due until the 4th we didnt want to collect it until then.

He was just it must be taxed and gone before the 1st, i assume for his bonus. The next garage we went to had no issues and the salesman just said lovely when i said i could pay for it in full now but cant collect until the 4th.
