Just booking a flight for what i thought was the total price and the summary box already shows 'payment fee £1.58' before i've even chosen a method of paying. So you get charged extra just to have the privelege of paying?

It disappears for a debit card.

2% fee for credit cards and PayPal.

No fee for debit cards. If you change the payment type it will reflect this.

It does tell you this on the website.

Where are you booking?

On the Ryanair website, for a random date and flight I see the following:

Debit Card: Free
Credit Card: £2.76
Paypal: £2.67

(The amounts will vary based on a % of the fare)

On the payment page you can select Debit/Credit Card or Paypal. When you select a Debit card as card type there'll be no payment fee. If you select a credit card or Paypal it will add the payment fee to the price breakdown.
