Notice period renting

Quick question
We have decided to move on from our current private let. Written in the agreement is x2 months notice and we pay in advance.
If we pay up to the end of July do you think the letting agents will be OK with move out then? Pay date is 30th of the month

Are you still in a fixed term or on a rolling contract? If fixed term, when does that expire?

You probably need to give notice of 2 rental periods e.g. if your tenancy started on the 15th of a month, then you would give notice now to leave on the 14th of August.

If it starts on the 8th of the month you would give notice now for the 7th September as you are already in this notice period and you need to give 2 clear ones.

What was the exact start date of your tenancy?

Was there a fixed term? If so how long was it? 6 months? 12 months? ????

What is the exact wording of the clause regarding noting in your tenancy agreement?

"If the agreement is not brought to an end by either party on the end date, it will continue thereafter on a monthly basis until ended by either party giving no less than 2 months notice in writing to the other party"

Right so you don't have enough time to formally serve notice if you want your tenancy to end 31st July. If you want your tenancy to end 31st July you'll need to negotiate that with your landlord.

From that wording is it 2 calendar months or 2 full rental periods therefore all of July then all of Aug?

You need to give notice so that the notice ends on the ish date. In your case the ish date is the 29th of the month. Therefore if you served notice this week your tenancy will end 29th August.
