Ireland calls UK withdrawal from fisheries agreement 'unhelpful and unwelcome'

    Then there's this:
THE REPUBLIC of Ireland should realise it can do “far better” outside of the EU as costs will rise following Brexit, a DUP MP has declared.

Yes I know it's from the Express.
Listen to it; is it any less valid for that?
There was a report in the Belfast Telegraph too but it seems to have disappeared.

As an example Federation of Small Businesses is less than £200. Perhaps you haven't tried hard enough to find an organisation. If you network then I'm sure you'll find plenty of people who have similar concerns to yourself.

In our case, no it's not.

There are many people with similar concerns however mobilising them into a single group is going to be the difficult part.

That's the reality, even if it's not what anyone wants to here.

The Irish will need to lobby their "family" in the rest of the EU I guess.

A DUP source quoted in the Express. Scraping the barrel Jock. Another example of how we are alienating our neighbours. We are going to pay for this Brexit again and again and again. So depressing!

Mobilising sounds more of a military operation. Than a business orientated approach. The EU has no wish to discuss trade yet. Which isn't helpful either.

I did suggest above: "Listen to it; is it any less valid for that?" and your response despite that is no more than unfounded derision.

On the contrary, it is the EU with their domineering protectionist stance that risks alienating not only our neighbours but much of the rest of the remaining EU27 too.
Or are you (like some other posters) going to ignore large parts of what has been reported in worldwide media and this thread; see post # 732 above.

If you will insist upon your views of seeing Brexit as knee-knockingly frightening, no wonder you are so depressed.
Fortunately there is little in fact so far upon which to ascribe these unfounded fears.

Appears their concern is other EU fishing boats accessing Irish waters. Not the loss of access to UK waters. Funny how attitudes soon change when the boot is on the other foot.
  • Re: the UK announcement on fishing:
"Scottish Fisheries Secretary Fergus Ewing said he and his colleagues have been pressing for the move "for some time"."
Scottish Fishermen's Federation Chief Executive Bertie Armstrong has expressed his support.
He said: "This measure is warmly welcomed - access to our rich fishing grounds will become a matter for us on withdrawal from the Common Fisheries Policy.
"Leaving the London Convention as part of that sends a very strong additional message of commitment."

It's not helpful, but forms part of the contractual agreements. There is therefore no problem with it.

David Davis has already made some comments about trade which are IMO of more immediate concern.

  • Merkel re-emphasises her desire for free trade.
How will that be viewed in relation to Brexit?
"If we simply try to carry on as we have in the past, the worldwide developments will definitely not be sustainable and inclusive," she said. "We need the climate protection agreement, open markets and improved trade agreements in which consumer protection, social and environmental standards are upheld."
