I know he is not everyone's cup of tea, but Peter Mandelson made the point today that if Britain is to obtain the best deal it needs to understand the way Brussels Eurocrats think. He said that they will stick rigidly to the EU rules for negotiation and Britain needs to appreciate that.
Correct. Barnier has lived this all his life and Davis is already a step behind. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

The 'row of the summer' settled 2 days before the start of summer.

It's pure biased nonsense providing only an oblique angle into politics. For example it would never seek to understand the damage done to impoverished citizens of very poor EU nations from their losing Doctors to the already highly privileged UK, and not consider why we don't train enough of our own Nurses from the vast ranks of youth that would dearly love such an opportunity.
But that's not the prerogative for Brexit, is it?
Those poor EU nations are not kicking the UK out or asking for the EU to break.
Your own nurses and doctors are trained but prefer to work in other nations like Australia, USA, NZ because they get a better quality of life.
The oblique nonsense biased angle is also in the DM, DE with the never-ending tirade that the UK is [apparently] supporting the entire world, that all migrants to the UK are queuing to get a council flat and benefits, and that if it wasn't for the British the whole continent would be speaking German.EU expat working in London0 -
You obviously haven't read the whole article. Davis asked the EU to explain the legal basis for their financial demand. It appears that he didn't get an answer.
Absolutely nothing like that mentioned in the joint press conference last night.
I watched it through to the end.
They jointly issued the following timetable.

Is there a transcript somewhere? Not sure I'll get time to sit through a 33min video.0 -
A quote from Mark Carney this morning.
"As Brexit negotiations unfold, the UK economy will be influenced by the expectations of domestic consumers, firms, and markets about any transition period and what will happen in the longer term, Mr Carney said.
He said companies on both sides of the Channel may "soon need to activate contingency plans".
"Before long, we will all begin to find out the extent to which Brexit is a gentle stroll along a smooth path to a land of cake and consumption," he said."

Jaguar Land Rover is doing well, not because of Brexit, but because their imported CEO has improved JLR's product range.
By the way, Tata owned Jaguar Land Rover are investing heavily to make cars in the Euro-zone: http://iitm.be/JLR_Euro
They've gone from designs running on old underpinnings to good contenders, same as Mini.
Land Rover now appeals to a much wider audience, too.💙💛 💔0 -
