            I'd still get the proper recon units. I wouldn't run secondhand calipers, whether helicoiled or "inserted" unless the caliper had been pulled apart cleaned properly, inside and out (and I mean properly, not a wipe with a bit of blue paper) inspected properly, and any replaceable parts changed.
 Why have a performance vehicle and compromise on essential safety for a few quid?0

            No they aren't they are pennies each and don't need any kind of extra flight certification compared to a consumer helicoil.
 Things must've changed in the aircraft world since my day then - and not before time given some of the costings!
 eta: although, to be fair, that was working on Lizzy's aircraft so some of the pricing issues may have been MOD contract related.0
